Troppos

Sergio Vega Dominguez (oboe)   Francisco ‘Paco’ Merino (tuba)
Joe Hodson (violin)   Pawel Jaworski (clarinet)   Eric Alfonso (percussion)

Get ready for a real festive treat from this unusual ensemble. Bringing Spanish and American heat to the depths of our Scottish winter, Troppos plays music that wants to be danced to.

Oboist Sergio Vega Dominguez began writing with friend and tuba player Francisco ‘Paco’ Merino during the pandemic, and put together a chamber group to play his compositions alongside arrangements of tunes by Latin music giants including Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Gardel and Tito Puente. These two are joined by violinist Joe Hodson, clarinettist Pawel Jaworski and percussionist Eric Alfonso.

Troppos is a synthesis of the traditional orchestral formation, attempting to break the often rigid classical rules, in search of a new, innovative sound. With this programme they create a musical journey through the fascinating cultural melting pot that is Spanish and Latin American music. Troppos are part of Classical Musicians Scotland.
